Scribenet Privacy Policy

Scribenet Incorporated, doing business as “Scribenet”, (the "Company" or "we") provides medical transcription services. Although we respect the privacy of our clients and all others who visit or use our web site, we do collect information from such users and visitors. This Privacy Policy governs your interaction with our web site in particular, and the Company in general.

REVISIONS TO PRIVACY POLICY.
The Internet and the benefits it offers are evolving rapidly, as are the ways in which people use the Internet and the laws surrounding such use. We therefore reserve the right to update and revise this Privacy Policy at any time. Your use of our web site constitutes your acceptance of the terms of the Privacy Policy as amended or revised by us, and you should therefore review this Privacy Policy regularly to ensure that you are aware of its terms. THE INFORMATION WE GATHER ON OUR WEB SITE.
We gather two types of information about users of and visitors to our web site:
  • Non-personally identifiable information: When users or visitors come to our web site, we collect and aggregate information indicating, among other matters, which pages of the web site were visited, the order in which they were visited, which of our services have been requested, and which hyperlinks were "clicked." Collecting such information involves the logging of the IP addresses, operating system and browser software used by each user of or visitor to the Company web site.
    We also use "cookies" — that is, small text files placed on a user’s computer hard drive — to help us determine various aspects of web surfing activity, such as the type of content and sites to which a user of or visitor to the Company site links and the length of time each user or visitor spends at any particular area of the Company site. Essentially, cookies are a user's or visitor’s identification card for the Company computers, or servers, that placed them there. Cookies are only read by the server that placed them, and are unable to execute any code or virus. Cookies allow us to serve you better and more efficiently, and to personalize your experience at our web site.   • Personally identifiable information: In certain areas of the Company web site – for example, when registering to use a particular service or providing us with billing information or financial or other information in order to allow us to provide you with our services – we request that you provide us with personally identifiable information (including, for example, your company name, company web site and email address, and the relevant information, which can include personally identifiable information of other persons or entities such as field of expertise).
HOW WE USE (AND DO NOT USE) THE INFORMATION WE GATHER ON OUR WEB SITE.
Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the different ways we use the information that we gather on our web site. Also, keep in mind that we cannot and do not assume any responsibility for any actions or omissions of third parties.

Non-personally identifiable information: We use non-personally identifiable information in aggregate form to build a higher quality, more useful web site and to improve our services by performing statistical analyses of the collective characteristics and behavior of our users and visitors, and by measuring demographics and interests regarding specific areas of the Company web site. The Company web site contains links to other Internet web sites, including sites of our partners or other affiliated sites that may or may not be owned or operated by us. Unless otherwise explicitly stated, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such web sites, including such sites’ use of any information (such as IP number, browser type or operating system) collected when users of or visitors to the Company web site click through links to those sites. Even though such information might not identify you personally, we strongly encourage you to become familiar with the privacy practices of those sites.

Personally identifiable information: Personally identifiable information is collected in certain areas of our web site. We use such information and disclose it to our employees, to the extent necessary or useful to enable them to perform any services being performed by the Company for you, your employer or its affiliates or your service provider pursuant to a Services Agreement or otherwise; and perform certain web site-related services (e.g., web hosting or maintenance services) on our behalf.

In compliance to HIPAA, we also reserve the right to disclose such information to any third party if we believe that we are required to do so for any or all of the following reasons: (i) by law; (ii) to comply with support processes or governmental requests; (iii) to prevent, investigate, detect or prosecute criminal offences or attacks on the technical integrity of the web site or our network; and/or (iv) to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company or its affiliates, the users of the web site, or the public.

RIGHT TO OPT OUT
Although you may not "opt out" of providing such information if you wish to receive the Company’s services and we reserve the right to use and disclose such information as useful or necessary to provide such services, you may choose to "opt out" of receiving promotional materials from us. If you decide that you would like to discontinue receiving promotional information from us, please contact us at support AT scribenet DOT net.

We limit our own e-mail solicitations to those customers who have not "opted out" of receiving such communications. The solicitations are limited in that they, among other things, will clearly indicate the originator of the e-mail and provide the customer with a method of "opting out" of receiving future communications of a similar nature.

In addition, we sometimes use individual data to "target" solicitations — to decide which promotions, solicitations, advertisements or sponsor messages are submitted or displayed to visitors. As an example, if we wish to forward an email solicitation only to Company users or visitors in a certain line of business, we use registration data to ensure that such ads are displayed or sent only to such users or visitors.

OTHER INFORMATION THAT WE GATHER AND USE
This Privacy Policy applies to information that we collect through this web site only and this Privacy Policy does not govern or relate to the collection, use or disclosure of any information (whether non-personally identifiable or personally identifiable) obtained from a source other than the Company web site.

CHANGING OR DELETING PERSONAL INFORMATION IN OUR DATABASE AND BUSINESS TRANSFERS
If you would like to have the personally identifiable information gathered about you removed from our database, please contact us at support AT scribenet DOT net, and we will use reasonable efforts to comply with your request, subject to any supportly binding agreement between the Company and you or your service provider. Keep in mind, however, that there will be residual information that will remain within our databases, access logs and other records, which may or may not contain such personally identifiable information. The residual information will not be used for commercial purposes; however, we reserve the right, from time to time, to recontact former users or visitors of the Company web site.

In addition, we might sell or transfer assets or portions of our business as we continue to improve our product and service offerings. In such transactions, user or visitor information (whether non-personally identifiable or personally identifiable) may constitute one of the transferred business assets.

The foregoing Privacy Policy is in addition to and shall not supersede the terms and conditions of any Website Terms of Use Agreement between the Company and you, your employer, its affiliates or your service provider. In the event of any conflict, the terms and conditions of said Services Agreement shall prevail.

SECURITY
We take certain technical measures to help protect your information. First, we use Internet firewalls (both hardware and software) to help protect customer information. We also secure all confidential connections using individual passwords and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. Additionally, all our servers are housed in secure and reputable data centers to which access is limited.

Although we have tried to create a secure and reliable web site for our users and visitors, the confidentiality of any communication or material transmitted via the Internet or by e-mail cannot be guaranteed. When disclosing any personal or confidential information, all users and visitors should remain mindful of the fact that it is potentially accessible to others, and consequently could be collected and used by others without your or our knowledge or consent. Accordingly, you should consider carefully if you want to submit sensitive information that you would not want disclosed and should recognize that your use of the Internet and our web site is solely at your own risk.
